Review of End of Days (1999) by Matthew M — 20 Mar 2012
An exercise in mind-numbing stupidity, "End of Days" seems more like a terrible B-Movie than actual Hollywood produce, and Gabriel Byrne and the premise (which is actually pretty cool) are the only things that make it actually bearable.
Arnie does his best with the material (best being literally nothing he doesn't do in every other film he stars in) but the scripting is terrible - some parts of exposition are just painful to watch - and the "visually treat" that it's supposed to be is more like a washed-out, dark nothingness.
It could have been much, much worse, sure, but it should have been much better, really - the ingrediants to make an alright film are there, but they're just not mixed in right.
