Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Blake S — 03 Dec 2009
I don't really understand why Werner Herzog made this. he doesn't really seem to care much about anything in Antarctica. He goes from one subject to the next giving a glimpse of each and often prematurely cuts off people and summarizes what they said, that is something that most documentaries do but the way he phrases it by mocking the people he is interviewing shows that he doesn't want to understand these people he just wants strange moments.
It is an interesting film but it seemed like it didn't really explore anything properly it just was like an exploitation documentary capturing the odd and eccentric. The best part was the beautiful underwater footage.
