Review of Encino Man (1992) by Chris W — 12 Aug 2011
"Encino Man" is actually quite a hilarious premise for a comedy, but the execution is a disappointing.
Sure the movie has its funny moments: Link (Brendan Fraser) and his buddies go into a bar full of Mexicans, Link eats a dissected frog in biology class... and so on. The only problem is, there's never a set-up or a reason for any of this to happen. "Encino Man" is cliched comedy without much else--yes, it's funny--but there's zero weight behind it.
I guess that what you come to expect from a Pauly Shore film really. I'm not a hater, but I just wish "Encino Man" could've explored the whole cave man in the 90s idea a bit more. If you're a Pauly Shore or Brendan Fraser fan, you should check this out, otherwise I would stay away. Not recommended.
