Review of Encino Man (1992) by The F — 11 Mar 2013
There are films in the vault that entertained me in my youth and to this day, remain guilty pleasures fueled by alcohol consumption and stupid laughter in my adulthood. This is one of those films. If it were released today at my current age, I would simply look over it.
But in 1992, this worked. Its the one film that worked for Pauly Shore before he used this persona in every film he ever did so forth. Fraser is perfectly cast as the hip caveman and if you don't blink, you'll find two appearances from a pre-fame Rose McGowan.
For those who grew up in the 90s, this has its pleasures. Anyone else will most likely find it to be a waste. The convience store scene remains a classic.
