Review of Enchanted April (1991) by Krystal L — 17 Feb 2008
SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW!!!
This movie was good enough, I was really enjoying it most of the way through. It definitely had the makings of a great chick flick. However, I was really disappointed with the end. I was not a fan of the one unappreciative husband who actually came for another woman but then BAM change of heart and I'm suddenly in love with my wife again? And the man who really did love her for who she was is heartbroken and is snatched up by the melancholy princess?? What the heck! Annoying! Maybe if they had spread out that whole situation a little more, over a bit more time instead of how quick it did happen, so I could see the love actually grow between these two couples I might have liked it a bit more, but as it was it seemed just too abrupt, not real love at all...soon to go back to the shitty way it all was before their Italian holiday.
Other than that unsatisfactory ending, I enjoyed this film. I was expecting it to be much more slow paced than it actually was, based on several reviews I'd read of it, but it actually flowed rather nicely through and through.
So, I would say, good movie to watch as long as I prepare for the hasty, annoying end.
