Review of Enchanted April (1991) by Mark M — 20 Feb 2010
I love films that breathe! This delightful film just came out on DVD after being unavailable for so long and I got to watch it in widescreen for the first time (my VHS pan-and-scan copy was getting worn out).
Newell serves up a great treat for the mind and the senses and the funny bone here. The contrasts of the characters and their separate inevitable fulfillments are a delight to experience and to see it all happen in such a beautiful setting is wonderful.
(BTW - why they chose Newell to direct the fourth Harry Potter film is a still mystery to me - I've heard of mis-casting a film, but mis-directing?).
