Review of Enchanted (2007) by Kyle B — 03 Jan 2012
Now since I have a girlfriend, every once and a while I have to see a film I may or may not have seen by choice. Every holiday season brings films of that nature. Last year I was more then pleasantly surprised with The Holiday, I ended up loving it, this year, that film was enchanted.
Now I held out as long as I could, but the day came, and after hearing other " My wife took me from my manly life to see this film" kind of guys say they actually enjoyed it, I didn't fear as much.
Sorry if that was a little melodramatic, as the film is actually quite entertaining, I can now see why lead princess Amy Adams is up for a Golden Globe. The film takes an interesting yet satirical twist on Disney's own Princess mythology and gives it a real life twist.
Gray's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey is a likeable cynic, who we follow through the film as he deals with his recent magical room mate. I enjoyed the fact that the entire film isn't spent trying to convince Dempsey that Adams is in fact a real princess, but rather him coming to the realisation and then helping her.
The film isn't perfect, but it is fun, witty and over all...cute? yea I said it. But in the end, guys, if your girl wants to see it, it may not be scarface, but its not vegey tales either, so I say give it a go, It may even bring you back.
