Review of Enchanted (2007) by Tungis G — 10 May 2013
Ok, this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Obviously its one of those movies where you need to buy in before viewing it. The story is predicable of course but there is enough twists and turns so its interesting and the tongue in cheek stuff isn't overly cheesy.
The movies strength is the casting and acting; Amy Adams performance as a animated princess come to life is spot on, not unlike the Hoffman's Rainman. One cannot help but feel good watching her completely sell the role and she is totally transformative going from animal summoning Disney princess to hot bombshell in the final scene.
The rest of the cast sell their performances nearly as well. This movie is a good example of how decent production combined with decent actors who believe in their roles can do with an average if not not at all serious script can be above average.
