Review of Enchanted (2007) by Matt G — 21 Nov 2014
Frozen is being given a lot of credit (and rightfully so) for being a pointed take-down of Disney's brand of unrealistic love stories, but Enchanted was doing it 7 years earlier. Led by a lovely cartoonish breakout performance by Adams, this whimsical and sharp musical comedy combines charming fish-out-of-water humor with some cool task-taking to both over-cynicism and over-romanticism of real relationships.
Sure, the end is a bit jumbled, and then a bit sudden, but the ride to that point is full of satired Disney fun while showing clear respect for its sources.
