Review of Enchanted (2007) by Eytan D — 28 Nov 2015
"Enchanted" is one of my top ten favorite Disney movies of the past decade. Not only does it pay loving homage to previous Disney classics of yesteryear, but it's also a witty, self-referential romantic comedy that finds humor for children and adults alike.
The production and costume design is immaculate and the songs by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz are to die for ("That's How You Know" is a blast and "So Close" is a heartbreaking ballad).
Now you just add a wonderful cast to the mix. Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Timothy Spall are a funny bunch and Susan Sarandon makes for a fine antagonist. But the movie belongs to Amy Adams. This film was every indication that she was a star in the making.
