Review of Enchanted (2007) by Nick C — 25 Mar 2012
At first I thought I was going to hate this film when I first saw the trailer, but after my first view of this film, I surprisingly liked it. The animated segments was beautifully well done, the forest animals are so cute, storywise it's a combination of the first 3 classic Disney fairy tales (Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty), but with a twist.
The main charcters from the fantasy world, are in NYC for the second half of the film. For the live action scenes, my reactions are pretty mixed, some of the acting can be iffy at times, but luckily, that's only during a couple scenes, other than that most of the performances were actually good.
Now in almost every Disney film, the one that steals the show are the villains, and this one is no excepion. Queen Narissa was beautifully animated and her live-action scenes are good too. The only part that dissipointed me was the dragon scene, the dragon's CG animation just couldn't facinate me and the design wasn't all that great either.
Overall, this film is recommended for 2 groups of people, if one likes live action drama with a little fantasy, then the live action scenes would highly be appriciated. If one, like me, is a die-hard Disney fan and looking for a rebound of their classic stories, than the animated segments would definatly work like a charm.
