Review of Employee of the Month (2006) by Ian M — 19 Feb 2012
Employee of the Month is a mildly enjoyable comedy that follows the romantic comedy formula to a tee. I mean, you can see everything coming for miles. The story is a retread of countless films before and the writing and the jokes lack both wit and flat-out crudeness, falling somewhere in between and suceeding at neither.
The performances are passable, with a couple of slightly interesting supporting characters, but nothing overly interesting or memorable. And you certainly do feel the 108 minute running time. With all that said, I did actually enjoy the film to some degree.
Certainly not a movie I would be in a hurry to see again soon, but it was a pleasant, albeit braindead, way to kill a couple hours on a Sunday afternoon.
