Review of Empire State (2013) by Sol C — 15 Mar 2014

The film was ok, but could have been so much better. They had a good idea for a film, but didn't execute it correctly. The film was a bit predictable. I also felt like I have seen this type of film before, but done better. The film needed a style kind of like what Spike Lee did in the Inside Man. I did like that the film does use real news footage from the time.

Liam Hemsworth was ok, in a role that I could easily see Channing Tatum do. I thought he was better here than in Paranoia. Michael Angarano was a bit over the top, his character was like that too. I could have seen Shia LaBeouf do that role. I felt that Michael was doing a Joe Pesci impression sometimes during the film. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson steals the film. He is the best thing in the movie.
