Review of Empire Records (1995) by Matthew T — 06 Oct 2008
One of Helen and Phil's fave films, I'd forgotten all about it till I saw it for 3 quid in Zavvi. Once you get past the disbelief that a place like Empire Records, chockful of "beautiful outsider" teenage types in the employ of an ageing rocker, could exist, it's not bad.
Plenty of Breakfast Club-style Coming Of Age articulations. Woeful grunge-lite soundtrack though, proving that teenagers don't know EVERYTHING.
