Review of Empire Records (1995) by William A — 08 May 2009
This movie came out ten years after the breakfast club - to me it serves the same purpose for the kids in the 90s, but does it in a much more light-hearted way. Its similar in that - it's 'slice of life' style - where it all takes place in a day.
It's got representatives from across the social spectrum - the weird girl, the princess etc. Its just not so overt in saying it all. And the way in which its portrayed - not taking itself as seriously - seems much more realistic to me.
There's more sex, drugs and rock and roll in it than I'd like for my personal taste, but it is an enjoyable, feel-good movie with a decent message or two in it.
