Review of Empire Records (1995) by Cortney R — 26 Dec 2009
One of the most idealistic yet honest teen movies ever made, I absolutely love Empire Records. It's definitely not a high-budget Hollywood piece. Instead, it reminds me of a modernized Tennessee Williams play: a group of characters, who seemingly have nothing in common, are pushed together under one roof and forced to work through their problems and emotions.
It's brilliant. The 90's version of The Breakfast Club, without the detention ofcourse, set to the perfect music from the decade. It replaces "Don't You Forget About Me" with "This is the Day.
" A great movie to add to any well-rounded collection, this film is light-hearted teenage fun. The characters are charismatic, the cast well-blended, and the plot pure. Watch it and smile.
