Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Josh M — 14 Sep 2008
It felt more like a musical than a movie. Why werent they singing and dancing? They should have been... it was too playful to be taken seriously. Spielberg must have done a LOT of growing up between this and Schindlers List.
It deserves five stars as a playful kids movie maybe, but definitely not as a drama.
