Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Curtis H — 09 Apr 2009
Spielberg's only issue was in this movie's energy lacking ending. Apart from that, this movie is an emotional, instant historical classic.Christian Bale carries it amazingly at the age of twelve.
The supporting cast is impressive, as well. The story, and experience of the British and Americans held in Japanese internment camps is a World War II is a subject little covered and little known. This movie sheds light on it in a great scale and in a very personal scale at the same time.
A well made engaging Spielberg work.
