Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Madison K — 28 Dec 2011
A good World War II movie as told from the eyes of a child instead of a war veteran. I like the setting and camerawork of the film, John Malkovich had a very good supporting role, and the fact that the Japanese are portrayed as people and not actually monsters.
(In fact the saddest moment to me was when one of the main character's friends dies) The problem is I had trouble following the story (I understood what was going on, just not why at time) and in the first third good god was Christian Bale's character annoying sometimes.
