Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Giano P — 30 Dec 2009
Empire of the Sun is a beautiful movie! The cinematography is breathtaking, and I absolutely loved the Welsh song that played as the theme throughout the movie. But best of all is Christian Bale. He gives one of the best performances from a child actor that I have ever seen.
Spielberg throws in a few scenes that drip with Hollywood sentiment, and I felt like some of the supporting characters get lost in the shuffle, but the film was so beautifully put together that I really didn't mind.
