A Triumph all in all!! Empire of the Sun is a great film sympathysing the human spirit and survival in a war torn country. Christian Bale was great when he was a young boy, already a rising star. Compared to 'The Color Purple' I find this a little more family friendly even though its still a serious film and should be watched by everyone.
Some even consider it Spielberg's most underatted film.
