Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Phil C — 02 Jan 2011
I'm going to give this a '3' because there were parts of it that were brilliant and it certainly looked good. But, at the same time, what the hell did I just see? This film just kind of jumps from scene to scene at times and there's no real overall tone to the film as I could liken it to "Bridge on the River Kwai" at times and "Hogan's Heroes" at others, and then it becomes like "Blank Check" at times, too.
A very bizarre film with a very annoying (child) Christian Bale.
