Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Rameshwar N — 29 May 2011
Not many movies are made about this period in history, so it scores its first points for freshness. Very fascinating to see young Christian Bale running around, being mischievous grows from a boy to a young man.
The war episodes are first rate and Japanese look very Japanese. At times it gets a little too sentimental on itself, they are far and few in this epic adventure. Spielberg delivers another winner.
