A movie which unravels gradualy the story of how a young boy learns to survive without his parents during the Japanese invasion of Shanghai. The pace is warm, comforting and gentle in spite of tragic events in the young Jim's life.
The lad always learns something from each situation, making a new friend along the way and growing to become determined, intelligent and caring.
