Review of Emperor (2012) by Vladimir P — 19 Jan 2014
Emperor is about the surrender of Japanese forces at the end of the Second World War, and whether to prosecute the Emperor as a war criminal and execute him for such crimes. The story has a personal twist to it (of Matthew Fox), but overall its filled with drama, and isn't as gripping as I thought it'd be.
The movie is predicably filled with pro-American viewpoints, which is backed up by Tommy Lee Jones performance as Douglas McArthur in the movie. Regardless, the movie is worth a watch for its story and theme, but could have been directed and scripted better to have been possibly a fantastic movie.
