Review of Emelie (2016) by Dave B — 14 Dec 2017
An extremely simple concept with the foundations for what could have gained merit for being a sinister, terrifyingly creepy film. Instead the filmmakers tease pulling away from making this too offensive by cutting at the right moments and not showing what you're expecting to see.
I could forgive this, assuming this is more of a gateway horror movie for those who couldn't stomach what the film heavily suggests upon but depth of characters is lacking and the film has a 'fill in the blanks yourself' storyline almost lining itself up for a sequel for the start.
Truly frustrating film which dragged out and yet feels unfinished.
