It's ambitions are high, however Elysium never quite succeeds as much as it wants to due to thin character development, an overemphasis on its themes, and an overall lack of narrative heft. It does provide some stimulating action sequences and visual splendor, and should deliver just enough to satisfy fans of sci-fi.
