Review of Elysium (2013) by Scott D — 07 Mar 2015
Okay I'm a huge fan of Neill blomkamps district 9 I was rooting for it to win the Oscar for best picture, so I had really high hopes for this movie! And they were met. I enjoyed the acting besides Jodie Foster horrendous accent.
Matt Damon does a nice job again as the hero! I loved Shartlo Copley as the villain. It was nice seeing him as the enemy instead of the hero! The special effects and cgi camera work was top notch the lighting, shaky camera work and fast pacing gave the film a gritty feel and didn't feel over done and out there where most Sci Fi movies tend to go astray! The film was grounded and had a sense of reality.
The film had a raw feel to it which I liked and it really went well with the themes of the movie. I loved how the themes of poverty, class wars, immigration, and medical health, all which were huge themes from District 9 continued and really shined through out the film.
I'm in love with Blomkamps take on The future and the Sci Fi Genre, going for substance and not granger! I would love for him to direct an Alien film! I want to start the campaign to get him to direct Alien 5!
