Elvis' Las Vegas shows and rehearsals are documented here in this stellar concert movie. Elvis as a character is interesting (and he IS a character- we never see the "real" person behind the persona), but this movie shows the tragedy of his life as well: the lecherous "memphis mafia" yes-men, the fans who treat him like a religious relic and the loneliness of being a "king" among ordinary mortals.

I think that leg shake he does might just be a nervous tick, because he seems to suffer greatly from stagefright. Yet beneath the corny stage banter and ridiculous costumes, we still see what made him great: his performance is amazing.

And the band is amazing. The legend lives up to his name.
