Review of Elvis & Nixon (2016) by Tatsuhito K — 24 Sep 2016
The filmmakers obviously take a lot of artistic liberty in terms of the conversations between Elvis and Nixon (since the meeting happened before Nixon started recording everything), and Michael Shannon looks nothing like Elvis.
But having said all that, I did find some enjoyment in "Elvis & Nixon". It is a well-made film with two really fun leading performances; it is also a pretty funny film and it made me laugh quite often, and I really liked how offbeat it was.
It doesn't add up to much and it often feels like one joke being stretched to a feature film, but I went with it and it was somewhat entertaining.
