I'm a middle-aged guy and remember my parents waking me up because Elvis was on TV. Still, if the choices are Beatles vs. Elvis, I'm Beatles. Not sure what that says, but this biopic got to me. Is it the best biopic? No, but I'm a sucker for Lehrmans stylized direction and visual storytelling.
I did not care foe Hanks version of the Colonel, but you're not supposed too like him. Touch of a caricature. The part that actually got me was the actual Elvis footage of him singing Unchained Melody.
Belting it out at the very end, robbed of his fortune, a slave to his fame, with no one truly at his side. It got to me.
