Review of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) by Keith C — 01 Nov 2012
Absolute classic. Filmed at the height of Elvira's career (which was actually quite long and full), the film revolves around her as the main character, but in much the same way as Movie Macabre - thin plot, terrible jokes, awesome "scenery".
Not a great actress but the enthusiasm, humor, and comic timing she brings to the Mistress of the Dark make her a horror icon greater than the sum of its parts. If you aren't familiar with her, think a sexier Morticia Addams with a heavy dose of valley girl, and then check out a so bad it's good classic.
