Review of Elsewhere (2009) by Je G — 06 Nov 2010
A nice thiller.
The main reason to watch it is Anna Kendrick alone.
Not only is she very beautiful but her acting really shines here.
There's some good suspense and the fact that there's hardly any musical score makes the atmosphere alone more real and dark.
When it came to the girl being kidnapped you could give a rat's ass what happened to her b/c of the way she was written.
It's really about Sarah gathering the clues together to solve the mystery of her disappearance.
She's more of the dependable one.
Another constant thing I keep seeing in these movies is the editing: can someone take a moment and try to make better transitions instead of repeated dissolves and fade-to-black cuts? it's almost as if minimal parts of the story are left out all together.
Bottom line; I enjoyed this movie for its suspense, atmosphere, its dark tone, the acting and the overall reality-feel.
