Review of Elizabethtown (2005) by Javier A — 24 Apr 2011
A very forgettable film, with very poor acting and an extremely predictable script, which in the end I still enjoyed.
The film is nothing special, the directing is annoying at best. Poor choices all around and quirky little touches that failed miserably in the film. Maybe the director was trying to emulate the main character's "fiasco.".
The acting by some very good to serviceable actors was very flat and uninspired. They seemed to be mouthing the lines and not adding any emotion. Again, the actors can do so much with such horrible directing and very bad script.
The script, seemed to be written by that starbucks barista that always screws up your coffee order. Nothing really exciting, nothing dramatic, again, maybe the script was trying to mirror the protagonists main concern, to try is to fail.
In the end, even after all its faults, I enjoyed the film. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a road trip and daddy film, no daddy issues, but I can relate with the road trip. Enjoy it at your own peril, best left for an insomnia induced 3am pick.
