Review of Elizabethtown (2005) by Ethan S — 04 Jul 2013
The story is about Drew Baylor played by Orlando Bloom who works as a shoe designer named Mercury but his success goes downhill as his recent design costs him his job and his girlfriend Ellen played by Jessica Biel.
Drew is thinking about suicide when his father dies and is needed back home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to help organize the funeral. Drew comes home to discover that no one knows about his recent poor fortune and he's greeted like a conquering hero.
As he reconnects with his family and helps his sister Heather played by Judy Greer look after Hollie played by Susan Sarandon, he gets more help to learn these valuable lessons from Claire Colburn played by Kirsten Dunst, a pretty flight attendant who Drew meets on his flight home and she has her own philosophies about positive thinking.
The film is not as bad as it seems as I watched it a long time ago but when you think about it, it's so damn forgettable and I barely remember this bland rom-com. This was directed by Cameron Crowe, the director of Jerry Maguire and we deserve better than this.
Elizabethtown gets a 6.5/10 and I'm being harsh.
