Review of Elizabethtown (2005) by Kirsten L — 27 Aug 2009
The problem with this movie is that it's a series of really good sketches. Together as a whole, it doesn't work since I find myself forgetting certain parts and the realizing they were in the same movie.
Bloom's character has 3 different things going on that just can't seem to fit: the fiasco of his job, the death of his father, and the pursuit of a cute country girl. The fiasco, after it's introduction, is completely forgotten until he mentions it once or twice throughout.
And the girl combined with the death just don't seem to fit. So, as separate parts, this movie was pure genius and wonderfully charismatic that warmed my heart and made me think about my life. But as a whole, I found myself wanting something more.
