Review of Elizabethtown (2005) by Clare - — 17 Sep 2009
Since I decided I wanted to see all the Kirsten Dunst movies, I had to see Elizabethtown as well. Although both Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst are great actors, this is a very mediocre movie due to the script.
The movie starts off with a billion dollar loss in designer sneakers that is never explained. After the postponed suicide and the encounter with the cute stewardess, the movie becomes boring. The best part of the movie is the last 15 minutes or so, with the hero driving back, scattering parts of the ashes of his cremated father along the way, and meeting up with the cute stewardess again.
The first part of the movie should have been told in 15 minutes, while the rest of the movie should have been about that final trip back.
