Review of Elizabethtown (2005) by Laurie B — 10 Jul 2012
I am surprised at the low ratings of this film. Really everybody, give it another try. I find it refreshing that Cameron Crowe has made his audience work their minds a little in trying to figure this one out.
This may be intentional or not, but it's not that hard. Watching it once will not do it justice, because the first time one watches this movie they are so fixated on trying to put all the pieces together, and figure out the characters, they miss out on a simple underlying theme.
Simply, this movie is just a beautiful look into real human emotions in the face of failure, stress, tragedy, and yes, love. There are so many great quotes that come out of this movie. The music selection is phenomenal, and he captured the Kentucky setting perfectly.
After watching it through a second time, I found it hard myself to keep my own emotions in check, and it has quickly become one of my favorites.
