Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Lane W — 23 Mar 2009
The real achievement of this film is how exquisitely it is shot. Much attention was paid to composition and color, and it is stunningly successful. The film itself is gripping, superbly acted, and beautifully (and interestingly) costumed.
Blanchett is a incomparable, and Amy Morton also delivers a great performance. Owen is characteristically charming, though this is nothing we haven't seen before. Rush's death scene is so garbled it's nearly incoherent, but other than that he is capable in the role.
Nice film.
