Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Diane W — 07 Sep 2009
I've been looking forward to seeing this film for ages, and now after seeing it I wasn't disappointed. Sure it wasn't very political, but not like I care. This movie was entertaining and held my interest.
Cate Blanchett was not as strong as in the 1998 film though I still feel she gave a good performance. I felt the other Elizabeth (aka Bess) played by Abbie Cornish stole the show in general (I'd be hoping for an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her perfomance).
Another scene stealer was Samantha Morton as Mary Queen of Scots. The costumes were as expected to be, rather impressive and though the film was not completely in touch with historical facts, it still was a very good film.
