Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Becca W — 18 Jul 2010
Decent film. It's a little slow in parts, and not as well made as the first one. This is the stuff that young women should be watching to see a powerful female role model. The movie's dramatizations aside, Elizabeth I gave up everything in order to bring her shattered country back to a place of domestic peace.
She forced the men around her to take her seriously by breaking past the understood "female" roles at the time. Hopefully watching this movie will encourage women to learn more about her. She definitely wasn't weak, silly, or ridiculous, and if some freaky ass pale vampire was mooning over her, she'd most likely stick him in the Tower of London for 6 months and then give him a swift beheading.
Just sayin'.
