The upside is that cate blanchett is a phenomenal actress. the downside is that the script put things a pedestal which don't belong there, there was no character development for the supporting roles, several things were unexplained (like how clive owen became commander of the navy), the direction and score often overreached to try to create epic moments out of thin air.
