Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Frederik D — 21 Feb 2012
Majestic scene re-enactment of the Armada episod. Beautifully reconstructed Westminster Palace, Escorial, Spanish navy... Alas, the scenario isn't really of the same quality. Rather romanticising interpretation of history. The Spanish are evil, beacause the're catholic. Nah. Half of the time, the public is bored by pathetic scenes of a tormented "ice-queen". Nevertheless, a pleasure to watch (if you don't pay attention to the bombastic music). An interpretation many 19th-century historians might like.
Necessary complement: watch Blackadder II :).
