Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Rose B — 04 Dec 2012
While clumsier than the first film in its directing and filmmaking, I still find this to be an able-bodied follow up. It isn't powerfully awful or even a little awful. I thought that this film, like the first, did some justice to Elizabeth (though the flaws of the first one are magnified here).
Cate Blanchett still turns in a stellar performance. Another performance of note is Samantha Morton as the ever-interesting Mary, Queen of Scots. Overall, a good movie, but it is not as good as the original.
