This is a very very good movie. Don't listen to the negative critics, watch and decide for yourself. Very similar in style and mood to City of God. The dialogue is interesting, the plot is fantastic and the message powerful.
The lead actor Wagner Moura does an utterly convincing job as the moody and brutally effective Captain Nascimento. So convincing that anyone who has ever been in Army basic training would definitely recall having a drill instructor in the vein of Captain Nascimento.
