Does this movie glamorize violence? Maybe. I think it depends entirely on your POV going into it: If you want to see it as a critique of the excessive violence used by BOPE and the corruption of the Brazilian police (which is what I think the director was going for), you can do so.
I did. It would be easy, though, to see it as glamorizing the cops' actions and suggesting that "shoot first; ask questions later" is the best way to deal with the favelas. I know this was an issue in Brazil, where everyone wanted to be Capitao Nascimento for Halloween.
Still, I think it's worth watching.
