Elf is pure Christmas joy, managing both sharp humor and complete sincerity with the greatest of ease. Sure, it's pretty cornball at times (singing to help the sleigh fly), but Favreau and Farrell handle the jokes so succinctly and with such brightness, it's easy to see why this is the greatest Christmas movie in the last 20 years.
