Review of Elf (2003) by Bill G — 20 Dec 2018
Distributed by New Line Cinema.
In this movie Buddy was the child of two New Yorkers, however he was adopted by elves in the North Pole.
This confused Buddy and made him unpopular amongst the other elves.
The elf father that adopted him told him of his real father in New York City. He travelled to New York City and was entertained by all that the city had to offer.
There is a juxtaposition between the childishness of the North Pole and the serious financial district of New York City.
He attempted to speak to his father, however his father threw him out. He went to a department store and met a girl that he found to be pretty played by Zooey Deschanel. He started working at the department store and was very interested in decorating it.
This job was a good fit for buddy because he was very childish.
His dad started to help him get his life sorted out. He developed a relationship gradually with Zoey Deschanel's Character.
This turned Buddy's life around because he started to focus more on being able to support himself and this girl instead of just having fun.
Santa's sleigh broke down and buddy helped him get it working again.
This represents Buddys life breaking down and him and his father repairing it so that they can "save Christmas".
Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel's character became a couple, got married, and had a daughter. They go and visit Buddy's adopted Elf Father every Christmas.
This represents a boy turning into a man, getting married, and visiting his father every Christmas.
