Review of Elevator to the Gallows (1958) by Jennifer A — 29 Jul 2008
This movie was a classic example of what I recently read Hitchcock said was the key to making a good thriller-ensure that the antagonist is not hated so much that the audience doesn't care if he lives or dies.
Perhaps we root for Julien simply because his lover "is the only one who can't take anymore". Miles Davis' elevates this haunting tale of murder and karmic payback.
