Review of Elevator (2013) by Renzo V — 09 Sep 2013
Stuck with a Bomb on an Elevator...
This 84 minutes mystery thriller set on an elevator stuck on the 49th floor of an New York skyscraper is directed by Stig Svendsen. I've got a weak spot for movies dealing with people trapped and one of them being dangerous. This 'Elevator' is a mixture of 'Devil' and 'Speed'. Unfortunately two things annoyed me. The first was that before the rescue crew even contacted the people who were trapped, they completely evacuated the skyscraper. How logical is that? Secondly, I really hated that little girl. She was evil. I did laugh when they tried to dismember the body, that part was funny.
An engaged couple, a security guard, an alcoholic widow, an overweight employee, a pregnant woman, a comedian, a rich man and his spoiled granddaughter aboard an elevator in a New York skyscraper to attend a company party on the top floor. On the way up, the little girl hits the emergency stop button to agitate the comedian, who has terrible claustrophobia. The nine people are trapped in the elevator and have to wait for the maintenance to get it started again. Being in a little space, tensions start to rise. And soon it's clear that not everyone is on the party guest list, especially not the person wearing a ticking bomb...
